Victor Seymour Infants' School

Early years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Statement

At Victor Seymour Infants School, we cultivate a dynamic learning environment where children thrive through a balance of independent exploration and targeted instruction. Our approach is designed to introduce new concepts while reinforcing prior knowledge and bridging any gaps.

Our expert Early Years team uses their deep understanding of child development to provide high-quality interactions. Whether children are leading their own play or working in small groups, adults are there to observe, enhance, and extend their learning.

Whether your child is playing outside or working in a small group, they are learning. We track progress closely to ensure every student hits their milestones, providing extra help whenever it’s needed to make sure no one is left behind.  Children move freely between indoor and outdoor spaces, accessing a rich variety of resources curated to spark their interests.

Within Reception our children have daily sessions in phonics, mathematics and Talk 4 Writing as well as 1-to-1 reading with an adult weekly.

Within Nursery our core focus is on communication, physical and social development, and foundational literacy and numeracy.

Our goal is simple: to ensure every child makes exceptional progress from their unique starting point, reaching their Early Learning Goals through consistent support and timely intervention.
